BRUSHING YOUR TEETH!

I was astonished to read in Tuesday's DAILY MAIL that not brushing your teeth can give you heart disease and arthritis. But those apparently can be two consequences of gum disease.
And there are more - including miscarriage, erectile dysfunction and difficulty in conceiving! The feature went on to say that the elderly, smokers, diabetics and pregnant women are at higher risk, and that genetics can also play a part.
It added: 'Once gum disease has set in, bacteria are able to enter the blood stream via blood vessels around the teeth and then travel around the body. This sets off a cascade of reactions, leading to inflammation and damage.'
But the condition can thankfully be prevented by cleaning teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. Here's how I clean mine, keeping my teeth (and gums) healthy:

GANDHI AND ALOE

Did you know of the connection between Mahatma Gandhi and Aloe?

Here's an extract from a letter written by Gandhi to Romain Rolland, his biographer:

'You ask me what were the secret forces which sustained me during my long fasts. Well, it was my unshakable faith in God, my simple and frugal life style, and the Aloe whose benefits I discovered upon my arrival in South Africa at the end of the 19th century.'

ALOE PROPOLIS CREME

I just loved finding this snippet in today's DAILY MAIL:

'Aloe Barbadensis: Derived from the plant Aloe Vera, evidence suggests this may promote healing in the skin. A study in 2009 found Aloe Vera was better than steroid cream at clearing patches of psoriasis.'

I should just like to add that Aloe Barbadensis Miller (the 'true' Aloe) is not derived from the plant - it is the plant! However, I absolutely agree about its effectiveness with psoriasis - especially when incorporated in Aloe Propolis Creme and when people drink aloe vera as well as applying it topically to their skin.
