If you've seen the title of this post and are wondering what possible connection there can be between Gandhi and Aloe Vera, here's an extract from a letter he wrote to his biographer Romain Rolland:
'You ask me what were the secret forces that sustained me during my long fasts. Well, it was my unshakable faith in God, my simple and frugal life style, and the Aloe whose benefits I discovered upon my arrival in South Africa at the end of the 19th century.'
Gandhi didn't have the benefits of this
specific drink, but plenty of people (and animals) have benefited from it since his discovery of Aloe!
